Your first month after registering a business in Uruguay

A practical DGI, BPS, e-invoicing and payment checklist for the weeks immediately after obtaining a RUT.

Back to blog

Getting a RUT is not the end of setup. Use the first month to confirm that activity, taxes, BPS, invoicing and deadlines match what the business actually does.

1. Verify registration

  • Actual start date.
  • Registered activity.
  • Active DGI taxes.
  • BPS contribution category.
  • Fonasa/family data.
  • Address and contacts.

2. Prepare e-invoicing

Know which CFE to issue before routine billing begins. For IVA mínimo, exclusive e-invoicing can also matter to the specific 3.3% benefit when its conditions are met.

3. Record sales, payments and fees separately

An invoice, settlement and bank/platform fee are separate events. Recording them that way from day one makes tax and reconciliation work much cleaner.

4. Check deadlines

DGI publishes a full 2026 IVA mínimo quota of UYU 5,910, with startup reductions and a specific e-invoicing benefit. Personal Services and BPS/Fonasa follow their own schedules.
