What is the electronic invoice (CFE) and how to issue it

The Electronic Fiscal Receipt is mandatory in Uruguay. We explain what it is, what it's for, and how to issue it without errors.

Back to blog

The CFE (Electronic Fiscal Receipt) is the digital version of invoices and other tax documents in Uruguay. It replaces paper and is validated directly with DGI, which brings security and transparency for both you and your clients.

Types of receipts

  • e-Invoice: for operations between taxpayers (companies or professionals).
  • e-Ticket: for sales to end consumers.
  • Credit and debit notes: to adjust or correct receipts already issued.

Why it matters

Issuing a CFE is not just a legal obligation: it also lets you keep an orderly record of your activity, simplify your tax filings, and convey professionalism to your clients.

How to issue a CFE with Solo.uy

Solo.uy is developing a flow to capture customer, service, currency and tax data, issue the applicable CFE and keep it linked to your records. Until that integration is available, invoices must be issued through a system enabled for your situation.

  • Enter client details once and reuse them.
  • Issue in pesos or dollars depending on your operation.
  • Download or email the receipt instantly.

This way you avoid calculation errors, duplicates, and delays. Everything is recorded automatically for your reports and tax filings.
